about me.

Hello, I am Rachel and I am a Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula, Placenta Encapsulator, Certified HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator (HBCE) and Evidence Based Birth (EBB) Instructor.

My passion for birth was ignited after the birth of my daughter, 7 years ago. I was 25 and in the early weeks of my pregnancy, I always thought I would have a baby the “normal/standard” way. Go to hospital, get epidural, and go home with baby. I didn’t realize until after I watched a lovely documentary, “ The Business of Being Born” that it was up to me to be educated and be sure I was making informed decisions about my body and my baby.

The journey began and I was able to spend my first pregnancy researching, reading and spending lots of time selecting my providers that would support me during birth. I began investing in my birth, to ensure that I would have the desired outcome that I deserved.

The average cost of a wedding in the US is $35,000!

Why are we so willing to spend this amount for a one day event, but when it comes to birth, we want to skip out on services that could greatly benefit our transition into parenthood.

Families should also be willing to invest in their birth. This includes Childbirth classes, doula, & postpartum support. An investment in doula services is an investment in your emotional and physical support as you welcome your baby. I believe this is one of the most important investments new parents can make at this particular life moment. You will not get a chance to “Re-do” a birth, why not prepare as best as you can?
